Zanox Campus

Zanox Campus My former colleague here at the University St. Gallen - Thomas Nicolai - is now working for the Zanox AG and responsible for their web services strategy and operation. As part of his job he is involved in the Zanox Campus. With the Campus Zanox tries to leverage and promote it's own web services. The Campus is a place, where Zanox tries to foster new ideas and new business models, that use the web services and which help monetize the web. Therefore Zanox has started an 1'000'000 EUR Web Services contest. Individuals and startups are welcome to create a business model that uses the Zanox web services. At the end of October the top ten candidates will be given the chance to present their business model to a jury in a short presentation. The contest is supported by a series of events like the recent TechCrunch Meetup in Berlin event and the coming Israel Innovation Day: Media on June 16th and the runner-up Israel Berlin Entrepreneurs Night @ zanox GAP CAMPUS.

“Sharkwater” - A must see movie!

posted on Fri, June 08th, 2007

At the evening of our first day at the Curacao Dive Festival there was a screening of a documentary movie, that just hit me. I haven't heard about it before unfortunately. It's not only visually stunning - known at best from the BBC planet series - but also tells a fascinating story.

As Torsten asked three months ago I just accidentally said yes to join in and attend the Bern Grand Prix 2007. The Bern Grand Prix is a 10 miles (16km) run through Bern city and the biggest event of its kind in Switzerland. This year more than 24,000 runner took part and ran through the beautiful city of Bern and through a enthusiastic crowd standing along the way.

Sushi Dinner

Sushi dinner
On wednesday I invited some colleagues and my neighbours to have a sushi dinner at my place. As nobody had prior experiences in making sushi before I just prepared everything and then we made the sushi together. Actually we made maki rolls the whole evening as it is the easiest one to make. I tried some nigiri, which came out ok, but I spend to much time for it. But most of the maki's came out quite nicely and it seems that everybody enjoyed the evening. Afterwards I've been taught Poker by Matthes and Tine, but could grasp their enthusiasm for the game.

Sofia trip and a orthodoxe wedding

Galina & Christoph wedding
I've never really thought about traveling to Sofia (Bulgaria), but as I was invited from Galina & Christoph to their wedding I didn't need long to decide to go. First of all Galina is an old and very good friend of mine, second as she is from Bulgaria and is orthodox the ceremony promised to be a quite unique event (at least for an atheist like me) and third I felt that I need to get to see more of the south-east of europe. I did at no second regret that decision. Sofia is a vibrant city and the wedding was a happy celebaration with the friendly family and friends. To my surprise a lot of the german friends had the same thoughts like me in mind and took the chance to visit Sofia.
