Videohybrid

posted on Wed, April 04th, 2007

Videohybrid claims to be a legal flash video hosting service for movies and shows.

We do not host any videos on videohybrid.com, nor do we upload videos on to other sites. Our entire site only uses about 5mb of space.

The quality is poor, but the interface is easy to use, but mainly to the limited number of movies and shows yet. It will be interesting how long it will last?

History:

05.04.2007:
Tonight at 3am the service was unavailable already. Seemed that they had way to much traffic. Now they have a splash screen setup, telling that the videohybrid is updating.

08.04.2007:
Now the whole site is down.
VideoHybrid is undergoing high load. We are expanding, please check back soon.

09.04.2007:
Now the site is not even reachable anymore!

10.04.2007:
Videohybrid is online again with a new layout and stating that they are working on a advertisement system:

VideoHybrid is the newest generation of the hybrid of video and you. Experience a simple interface that allows you to explore a wide array of videos. If this is your first time here, expect to come here frequently because of this addictive, no-virus, no-pop-ups video site featuring your favorite movies, TV-shows, anime, and music. Support the music and film industry by buying DVDs if you have enjoyed them.

VideoHybrid is currently working on a corporate advertising system such that content owners will be able to benefit from the site.

11.04.2007:
Ok now we are going in the next stage. Videohybrid is trying to setup a wordpress blog system, most probably to let us know what happens next and do some chit-chat about the exciting developments. but unfortunately the database reached its maximum questions limit.

WordPress database error: [User 'u70395792' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource....]

12.04.2007:
Videohybrid is now looking for a new host. They really seem to hit the nerve with this service. An easy to use ready to stream video portal. I just wonder if it needs to break current law to create a lot of attention to break the current value chain models. All current streaming platforms I know are subscription based. But it seems possible or at least a there seems to be a vague light at the end of a the tunnel that such a service could maybe completely financed based on advertisement. Mark Cuban wrote a nice article about the new video hype.

Sorry, over the next few days we will be on and off until we can find a good hosting plan

15.04.2007:
The site is just blank.

16.04.2007:
Now we reached Maintenance Mode. The source code indicates that videohybrid will be served as a wordpress installation.

Maintenance Mode

Videohybrid is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. Please try back in 240 minutes.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

17.04.2007:
So it was TechCrunch causing the traffic hammer on videohybrid. The site seems back and the streaming is even working very fast.

26.04.2007:
It seems that videohybrid is hit by another wave of incoming requests. The site is very slow and in results in most times in a connection reset making it impossible to use the site.

29.04.2007:
