Ticino Travel

Since I haven't posted anything the last months I need to catch up a bit. For the beginning just some photos from my recent travel to the Ticino area in Switzerland. I had a great time there with Jörg, who just came to visit me in St. Gallen. As St. Gallen isn't that huge and exciting, we went to Locarno and later on made a short visit to Lugano. We spend almost all the time just wandering around sightseeing or sitting in cafè's talking and reading books.
On our first day we a guest house in Russo which is about 20km from Locarno in the Onsernone valley, which is pretty lonely area with only a few villiages. As someone who is born in an area where the highest hill reach aprox. 100m I forgot that about 20km in the alps can be very long. At some places the road to Russo is just wide enough for a car and we couldn't believe that on that narrow streets even a bus shuttle exists, but it does. We needed for almost an hour to drive to the guest house and were warmely welcomed by the house owner. We had a nice chat about the area and Ticino and why she is living here. Actually we wanted to go the watch a movie on the Piazza Grande in Locarno at the Locarno Film Festival, but after that long drive we decided to stay. We visited the festival the next day, but had bad luck as all movies were in french or italien lanuage only. Although it was really tempting to watch a movie only with subtitles, because of the nice ambience on the Piazza Grande and the big screen on it.
While being in the Ticino area I took the chance to go diving in the Verzasca, which is known and famous for their beautifuls fine markings on the bright granite rocks. I took some underwater shots, but were unlucky because I only took my drysuit with me (the water in mountain rivers is known to be cold) and unfortunately the sealing on my left arm broke after the first dive. I was very upset because we had perfect conditions and I really enjoyed the first dive. Nevertheless I took the camera and just snorkeled around and got some nice shots, too. I definitely visit the Verzasca again for taking some more underwater shots.
