Pageview Issues

Evan Williams has written up a nice article about the relevance of pageviews in current and future statistics. Not only that a lot of crawler traffic is producing a lot of the web sites traffic and makes it hard to figure out the real page impression, but also syndication with RSS or other forms of syndication and AJAX interfaces have an impact. the traffic, too. So how can we measure all the different aspects. Evan suggests to measure time spend on the site, which is on the otherhand also depending on the site design and service a website offers. And time does not count the readers or users of your RSS stream.
